Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Control Systems Technician for a contract role in Durban. You will install, configure, test, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems across production lines, ensuring efficiency and uptime.

The role requires strong PLC programming skills (Siemens/Allen-Bradley/Omron), HMI/SCADA configuration know-how, and a solid grasp of industrial networks. You will collaborate with engineering and plant teams to implement upgrades and provide on-site training.

Qualifications

Proven experience as an Industrial Control Systems Technician or similar role focusing on PLC/HMI systems.
Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron).
Experience with HMI software and SCADA configuration.
Solid understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
Relevant technical qualification or trade certification in industrial electronics or automation.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and test industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing on control hardware and equipment.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues, identify root causes, implement solutions.
Develop, modify, and debug PLC ladder logic and other control programming languages.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate and upgrade systems.
Manage software backups and version control for control programs.
Ensure installations meet safety standards and electrical codes.
Provide technical support and training to plant personnel.
