Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in industrial automation to join our Rustenburg team. The role focuses on design, implementation, and maintenance of automated control systems for industrial processes, with a hybrid work model including on-site commissioning.

You will work with PLC programming, HMI, and VFD integration, develop electrical documentation, and collaborate with mechanical engineers and vendors to ensure safe, efficient systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA software.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, control system design principles, and instrumentation.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in both remote and on-site team settings.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems, including PLC programming, HMI, and VFD integration.
• Specify electrical components, sensors, actuators, and control hardware.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and diagnose root causes.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, production teams, and vendors.
• Perform site visits for installation, commissioning, and training.
