Job summary

Placements24 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to design, implement and optimize electrical systems for industrial automation. This hybrid role combines on-site collaboration with remote flexibility to support dynamic manufacturing environments.

You will work with mechanical, software and production teams to develop control panels, PLC/HMI/SCADA solutions, and ensure safety and compliance with IEC/SANS standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in electrical systems engineering with industrial automation focus.
• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell), HMI, and SCADA.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Knowledge of safety standards for industrial control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for industrial automation, including control panels and power distribution.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD.
• Integrate PLC, HMI, and SCADA for process control and monitoring.
• Conduct electrical safety reviews and ensure IEC/SANS compliance.
• Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements.
• Procure components and manage vendor relationships.
• Optimize existing electrical systems for performance and reliability.
• Contribute to design standards and best practices in the department.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations staff.
