Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for its Port Elizabeth operations. The role focuses on designing and implementing electrical control systems for automated production lines, ensuring safety and reliability through rigorous testing and documentation.

The candidate will program PLCs and HMIs, select components, and collaborate with mechanical teams to integrate systems across projects. A strong grasp of industry standards and hands-on problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering with a focus on industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) and HMI software.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar ECAD software for schematic design.
• Solid understanding of industrial control systems, motor controls, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panels for automated machinery and production lines.
• Select components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and motor control centers.
• Program and configure PLCs and HMIs for industrial applications.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems in machine designs.
• Conduct electrical testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning for safety and performance.
• Maintain design documentation and compliance with electrical codes and company policies.
