Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join our legal team on a fully remote basis in South Africa. You will provide comprehensive legal support across commercial contracts, governance, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution from your home office.

You will draft and negotiate vendor agreements, advise on risk management and policy implementation, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to protect the company's interests.

Qualifications

• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation and corporate compliance.
• Ability to provide practical, strategic legal advice for business operations.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including vendor and partnership contracts.

About the Role

Our client, a growing enterprise, is seeking a dynamic and experienced In-House Counsel to join their legal department on a fully remote basis. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide comprehensive legal support to all facets of the business, from commercial contracts and corporate governance to regulatory compliance and dispute resolution, all from your home office within South Africa . You will work closely with various business units, offering strategic legal advice that underpins the company's operations and growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and service level agreements.
• Provide legal advice and guidance on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management matters.
• Assist in the management of litigation and employment-related legal issues.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations, including data privacy and industry-specific legislation.
• Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
• Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and regulatory bodies as needed.

Requirements

• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in commercial law, contract negotiation, and corporate compliance, preferably in-house or with significant corporate exposure.
• Strong understanding of business operations and the ability to provide practical, strategic legal advice.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fully remote environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work remotely within South Africa .
