Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join our legal team on a fully remote basis, providing strategic guidance on governance, compliance and risk management from your home office.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in corporate law, preferably in-house, with a strong track record in M&A, contracts and international matters.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 10+ years in corporate law, preferably in-house.
• Strong knowledge of SA corporate and commercial law; familiarity with international practices.
• Proven track record in complex M&A and corporate finance.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence stakeholders; self-directed and organized.
• Experience working remotely and managing remote workload.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal aspects of major corporate transactions including M&A and joint ventures.

About the Role

You will play an integral role in advising senior management on complex legal matters, shaping corporate policies, and supporting business growth globally. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the legal aspects of significant corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, securities law, and regulatory compliance.

• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and effectively oversee litigation matters.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate law, preferably with significant in-house experience.
• Deep understanding of South African corporate and commercial law, and familiarity with international legal practices is a plus.
• Proven track record in handling complex M&A transactions and corporate finance matters.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing a remote workload efficiently and independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
