About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated and experienced In-House Counsel specializing in commercial contracts to join their fully remote legal department. This position is integral to supporting the company's business objectives by providing expert legal guidance on a wide array of agreements and commercial transactions. You will be responsible for ensuring that all contracts align with company policies and legal requirements, mitigating risks, and fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, sales contracts, and partnership agreements.
• Advise business teams on contractual terms, risks, and compliance issues.

• Manage contract lifecycle from initiation to execution and renewal.
• Conduct legal research related to commercial law and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure legal requirements are met.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in South Africa with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in-house or with a strong focus on commercial contracts.
• In-depth knowledge of contract law, commercial transactions, and related regulations.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding workload in a remote setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience with contract management software is a plus.
