Job summary

Innovazi Consulting (Pty) Ltd seeks an experienced Import LCL Controller to manage LCL imports from origin booking to final delivery in a fast‑paced logistics environment.

You will coordinate with overseas agents, track vessels and ETAs, verify documents, liaise with customs, and ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery across South Africa’s ports.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• Freight forwarding or customs qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in import sea freight, ideally with LCL.
• Strong knowledge of Incoterms, shipping documents, and SA port processes.
• Knowledge of freight systems (e.g., Shipshape) is advantageous.
• Excellent communication with clients, agents and suppliers.
• Highly organized and accurate with ability to manage multiple shipments.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel/Outlook) with own transport and a valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate import LCL shipments with overseas agents and consolidators from booking to arrival.
• Track vessels, sailings, and ETAs, keeping clients proactively updated.
• Verify shipping documents (house/master B/Ls, invoices, packing lists) for accuracy.
• Liaise with customs clearing to ensure timely entries and cargo release.
• Arrange deconsolidation, depot/CFS collection, and final delivery with transporters.
• Manage storage, demurrage, and other costs; prepare job costings and quotes.
• Resolve delays, damaged cargo, and documentation errors; maintain shipment records.

A leading organisation in the freight forwarding and logistics sector is seeking an experienced Import LCL Controller. This permanent, full‑time role can be based in either Cape Town or Centurion and offers the opportunity to manage less‑than‑container‑load (LCL) imports from origin booking through to final delivery. The position requires a detail‑oriented professional with strong knowledge of the import process, shipping documentation, and South African port operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate import LCL shipments with overseas agents and consolidators, from booking to arrival
• Track vessels, sailings, and ETAs, keeping clients proactively updated
• Verify shipping documents (house and master bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin) for accuracy
• Liaise with the customs clearing team to ensure timely submission of entries and cargo release
• Arrange deconsolidation, depot/CFS collection, and final delivery with transporters
• Manage storage, demurrage, and other costs to avoid unnecessary chargesPrepare job costings and quotes, ensuring all charges are invoiced correctly
• Resolve operational issues such as delays, short or damaged cargo, and documentation errors
• Maintain accurate shipment records on the freight system
