Job summary

Switch Recruit is seeking a skilled Import Controller to take ownership of the full import process from file opening through final invoicing. You will manage airfreight and seafreight imports end-to-end and coordinate with shipping lines, clients, transporters, and clearing agents to ensure timely, compliant shipments.

Strong invoicing and documentation management are essential. Applicants should have extensive experience in airfreight/seafreight imports and a proven track record of handling

Qualifications

• Minimum 35 years' experience in an Import Controller role within freight forwarding (non-negotiable).
• The ability to converse professionally in Afrikaans is a huge advantage.
• ShipShape experience (advantageous but not required).
• Strong airfreight and seafreight import experience.
• Proven experience managing files from A-Z.
• Strong understanding of the import forwarding process.
• Experience with invoicing.

• Handle invoicing and ensure files are financially completed accurately and timeously.
• Resolve queries and delays proactively throughout the import process.
• Maintain accurate shipment files and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes and customer requirements.

• Handle the full import process from shipment arrival through to completion.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, airlines, clients, transporters, clearing agents and other relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor shipment documentation and ensure all required documents are received and processed correctly.
• Track shipments and provide clients with regular updates.
• Coordinate customs clearance and delivery arrangements.
• Process and follow up on release documentation.
• Ensure all shipment milestones and relevant information are accurately captured on the system.
• Handle invoicing and ensure files are financially completed accurately and timeously.
• Resolve queries and delays proactively throughout the import process.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment files and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes and customer requirements.
