Job summary

EdUpStairs in Cape Town seeks a dedicated Social Worker to join the Family Services team, providing comprehensive support to families in the Western Cape. You will assess needs, develop intervention plans, and connect families with community resources to foster resilience and well-being.

Must be SACSSP-registered with a Master’s in Social Work and a minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in family-centered practice. Excellent communication and advocacy are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
• Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
• Minimum of 3 years of post-qualifying experience in family-centered social work.
• Demonstrated expertise in child protection, family dynamics, and intervention methodologies.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and advocacy skills.
• Proficiency in navigating the social service landscape in Cape Town and surrounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of families to identify strengths, challenges, and support needs.
• Develop and implement tailored intervention plans, including counseling and case management services.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to families experiencing acute distress or risk.
• Facilitate parenting skills workshops and family mediation sessions to enhance communication and conflict resolution.
• Collaborate with external agencies, schools, and healthcare providers to ensure integrated service delivery.
• Maintain detailed and confidential case files, documenting all assessments, interventions, and progress.
