Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Telecoms Infrastructure Engineer for our Vereeniging, Gauteng operations. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing core telecoms infrastructure with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years in telecom network engineering, strong knowledge of TCP/IP/MPLS/BGP/OSPF, and experience with routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of progressive experience in telecommunications network engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF) and telecommunications standards.
• Experience with network equipment including routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls.
• Familiarity with LTE/5G wireless tech and fiber optics is advantageous.
• Proven ability to design and manage complex network architectures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement scalable and robust telecommunications network infrastructure.
• Oversee deployment and integration of new network hardware and software solutions.
• Monitor network performance, capacity planning, and optimization strategies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Develop and maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and SOPs.
• Ensure security and integrity of the network infrastructure with proper measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors and stakeholders on projects.
• Lead technical investigations and provide expert guidance on network matters.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
