Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Subsurface Data Analyst to join the Upington team in a hybrid role, managing and interpreting large volumes of subsurface data to support exploration and production activities.

You will develop data management strategies, ensure data quality, and generate actionable insights using SQL, Python, R, and Spotfire, collaborating with geologists, geophysicists, and engineers. Regular office presence in Upington is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.
• 4+ years of subsurface data analysis or data management in energy.
• Proficient with SQL and data analysis tools (Python, R).

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain databases of subsurface data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and accessibility.
• Develop and implement data quality control processes for incoming subsurface information.
• Analyze geological, geophysical, and production data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities.
• Create visualizations, reports, and dashboards to communicate findings to technical and management teams.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers to understand data needs and provide analytical support.
• Develop and utilize scripts or tools for automated data processing and analysis.
