Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geoscience Data Analyst for a fully remote role supporting exploration and production decisions across multiple locations, including Welkom assets. You will process, analyze, and interpret extensive geological and geophysical data using Python or R and key software suites.

You will collaborate virtually with geoscientists and engineers worldwide, develop automated workflows, and generate insightful visualizations and reports to support subsurface understanding.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar role within the oil and gas sector, focusing on geoscience data.
• Proficiency in geological and geophysical software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, OpendTect).
• Strong programming skills in Python or R for data analysis and scripting.
• Experience with database management (SQL, NoSQL) and cloud-based data platforms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills suitable for a remote work environment.

Responsibilities

• Process, validate, and manage large geological and geophysical datasets using specialized software.
• Perform data quality control and ensure the integrity of all incoming data streams.
• Develop and implement automated workflows for data processing and analysis.
• Generate insightful visualizations and reports to communicate complex geological information.
• Collaborate virtually with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers on subsurface interpretation projects.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in geoscience data analysis.
