Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a technically adept Technical Sales Engineer in Soweto, Gauteng to bridge client needs with solar PV, storage, and renewable energy systems. You will assess sites, design configurations, prepare proposals, and support the sales process from first contact to project handover.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 4+ years in technical sales or related field, CAD or PV design software proficiency, and willingness to travel around Soweto.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in technical sales, engineering design, or project implementation in renewable energy (solar PV, storage).
• Strong understanding of solar PV technology, components, and system design principles.
• Experience with energy storage systems is a plus.
• Proficiency with CAD or solar design software (PVsyst, AutoCAD).
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; able to engage clients and support the sales cycle.

Responsibilities

• Engage with prospective clients to understand energy needs and opportunities.
• Conduct technical site assessments and evaluate solar resource, site suitability, and infra.
• Design preliminary configurations for solar PV and storage tailored to clients.
• Prepare detailed technical proposals with designs, performance estimates, and cost breakdowns.
• Provide technical expertise and product information to clients and address queries.
• Collaborate with sales to develop strategies and presentations.
• Support project management during initial phases of execution.
• Stay updated on renewables tech, market trends, and regulations.
• Build relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
• Aim to achieve or exceed sales targets and KPIs.
