Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Solar Energy Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of solar PV projects in the Northern Cape, with Upington as a primary base. The role requires steering multi-disciplinary teams through feasibility, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, while managing budget, schedule and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or related field.
Minimum of 5 years in project management, with ≥3 years in renewable energy (solar PV).
PMP certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Manage the full lifecycle of solar energy projects from planning to commissioning.
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
Lead cross-functional teams including engineers, contractors and consultants.
Oversee site selection, feasibility studies and permitting processes.
Manage stakeholder relationships including clients, suppliers and authorities.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.
Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Oversee project finances, changes, and financial reporting.
Ensure smooth handover and operational readiness.
Stay updated on solar industry trends and best practices.
