Placements24 is seeking a Junior Electrical Design Engineer in Upington, Northern Cape. You will assist senior engineers in designing electrical systems for solar PV projects, learn codes and standards, and gain hands-on experience in a growing renewable-energy environment.

You'll work in a hybrid setup, with mentorship, supportive team and opportunities for early-career development as you contribute to sustainable energy initiatives in a key region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience in electrical design.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles, power systems, and circuit design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of solar PV systems and components is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, potentially commuting to an office in or near Upington.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the design of electrical systems, including schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for solar PV projects.
• Perform basic electrical calculations related to power, voltage drop, and component sizing.
• Support the preparation of design documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments as required, under supervision.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure design accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
• Assist in the procurement process by identifying required electrical components.
• Learn and apply relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
• Maintain project documentation and drawings in an organized manner.
