About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing renewable energy company, is seeking an experienced Solar Energy Project Manager to oversee the development and execution of solar power projects in the Northern Cape region, with a primary base in Upington. This challenging role involves managing all phases of project lifecycles, from feasibility studies and permitting to construction, commissioning, and handover. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management, renewable energy technologies (particularly solar PV), and a proven ability to manage complex projects on time and within budget. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, engage with stakeholders, and ensure projects meet technical, financial, and regulatory requirements. This position is hybrid, offering a balance of site-based and remote work, focusing on the development of significant solar infrastructure in the Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of solar energy projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in solar energy project management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years focused on renewable energy projects, specifically solar PV.
• Proven track record of successfully managing solar projects from conception to completion.
• Strong understanding of solar PV technology, grid connection requirements, and energy markets.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Experience with contract management and working with EPC contractors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
• Familiarity with the regulatory landscape and opportunities within the Northern Cape for renewable energy.
