Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years designing solar PV systems.
• Proficiency with PV design software (PVSyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of South African electrical and building codes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design solar PV systems for various scales (residential, commercial, utility).
• Produce detailed schematics, single-line diagrams, and site plans.
• Select appropriate solar panels, inverters, mounting structures, and other balance-of-system components.
• Perform energy yield simulations and performance predictions using specialized software.
• Ensure designs comply with national electrical codes, building codes, and local regulations.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for new projects.
• Prepare BOM and cost estimations for proposed systems.
• Liaise with project managers, construction teams, and clients throughout the design and implementation phases.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues during installation and commissioning.
• Stay updated on the latest solar PV technologies, trends, and best practices.
