Job summary

Placements24 client seeks a Social Program Officer in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal to plan, implement, monitor, and adapt community programs. The role blends field engagement with remote work under a Hybrid arrangement, focusing on delivering tangible social impact.

You will collaborate with community members, authorities, and partners to build robust programs, manage budgets, and report progress while traveling within the Richards Bay area as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or related field.
• At least 4 years of progressive program management experience in non-profit or development sector.
• Proven experience in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E).
• Strong understanding of social issues relevant to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data management tools.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
• Willingness to travel within the Richards Bay area for program activities.
• Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned social programs.
• Develop program strategies, work plans, and budgets with program managers.
• Monitor activities, collect data, and evaluate outcomes.
• Facilitate community consultations and needs assessments.
• Build relationships with community stakeholders, local government, and partners.
• Prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with policies, donor requirements, and legal frameworks.
• Identify opportunities for program expansion and resource mobilization.
• Provide technical support and guidance to staff and partners.
• Represent the organization at community forums and workshops.
