Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Social Program Developer to design, implement and evaluate innovative community programs in Upington and the broader Northern Cape. The role emphasizes poverty reduction, skills training and basic service provision, with collaboration across local stakeholders and government bodies.

You will lead program design, manage pilots and monitor outcomes, while building strong partnerships and ensuring sustainable impact in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in program design, development and management in non-profit sectors.
• Experience conducting needs assessments and developing evidence-based strategies.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent report writing and presentation abilities.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership building.
• Understanding of rural Northern Cape socio-economic context is desirable.
• Proficiency with project management tools and techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organizational skills.
• A deep commitment to social justice and community empowerment.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new social programs based on community needs assessments.
• Conduct research to identify emerging social issues and best practices.
• Develop program proposals with objectives, methodologies, budgets and timelines.
• Oversee pilot implementations and scale successful initiatives.
• Monitor progress, collect data, and evaluate outcomes against goals.
• Build partnerships with community leaders, NGOs and government bodies.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and workshops for buy-in.
• Prepare reports on program development, implementation and impact.
• Manage program budgets and ensure efficient resource allocation.
• Stay updated on social development policies and funding opportunities.
