Job summary

Placements24 in Randburg, Gauteng, is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to design, implement, and manage robust security solutions across on-prem and cloud environments. You will identify vulnerabilities, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with NIST/ISO 27001 standards, collaborating with IT and development teams to embed security in the software lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering, strong network, cloud, and EDR/SIEM expertise, plus scripting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or a related security role.
• Proven experience with network security, endpoint security, and application security.
• Hands-on experience with cloud security principles on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency in security tools such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and EDR solutions.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and incident response skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Proximity to or willingness to work a hybrid schedule in Randburg, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
• Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Monitor security alerts and respond effectively to security incidents.
• Implement and manage cloud security controls (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP security services).
• Automate security processes and tasks where possible.
• Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
• Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
• Provide security awareness training to employees.
