Job summary

Placements24 client, a prominent recreational center in Durban, seeks a proactive Recreation Facilities Manager to oversee daily operations and strategic planning of its diverse facilities, ensuring safety, upkeep, and member satisfaction.

You will lead a team, manage budgets, develop programs, and coordinate vendor services, balancing on-site leadership with remote planning in a hybrid role across KwaZulu-Natal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in recreation facility management or operations.
• Proven experience in budget management, staff supervision, and program development.
• Strong understanding of facility maintenance, health and safety regulations, and risk management principles.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on-site and remotely across different settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of all recreational facilities, including sports fields, swimming pools, gyms, and community halls, ensuring they are clean, safe, and operational.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, including revenue forecasting, expense control, and resource allocation for facility maintenance and upgrades.
• Lead, train, and supervise a team of facility staff, including supervisors, attendants, and maintenance personnel, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and emergency procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
• Plan, promote, and execute a variety of recreational programs, events, and activities to cater to diverse community interests and age groups.
• Manage vendor relationships for maintenance, cleaning, and equipment services, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality service delivery.
