Job summary

Placements24 in Mossel Bay seeks a proactive Manufacturing Systems Engineer to optimize and maintain automation, PLC/HMI interfaces, and data flows across production lines. This hybrid role balances on-site collaboration with remote project work.

You will troubleshoot, upgrade systems, implement Industry 4.0 solutions, and collaborate with IT and engineering teams to enhance throughput, reliability, and product quality in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing systems engineering or automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Experience with SCADA systems and MES.
• Strong understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing system performance and identify opportunities for improvement in throughput and reliability.
• Design, implement, and maintain automation systems, PLCs, and HMI interfaces.
• Develop and execute test plans for new systems and modifications, ensuring they meet performance specifications.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure seamless data flow and system integration.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Contribute to the development of digital manufacturing strategies and the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies.
