Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to join our automation team on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on design, development and implementation of automated control systems for manufacturing processes and industrial equipment.

You will work on projects that enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity, requiring a strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and industrial networking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience designing and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficient in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI development.
• Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols (Profibus, Modbus, EtherNet/IP).
• Experience with VFDs and servo systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and program PLC logic and HMI interfaces for industrial automation systems.
• Develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts using CAD.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, drives, and safety devices.
• Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting both remotely and on-site.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to define control system requirements.
• Stay current with advancements in automation technology and implement innovative solutions.
