Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanical Engineer for a hybrid role based in Upington, Northern Cape. You will manage mechanical aspects of large-scale projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years in industrial mechanical engineering, strong project management, and proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Travel to sites around Upington may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 6–8 years of experience in industrial mechanical engineering with emphasis on project management and execution.
• Proven experience designing and implementing mechanical systems for industrial applications (manufacturing, mining, energy).
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical components, machinery, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent project management skills: planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
• Willingness to travel to project sites in the Upington area and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering aspects from concept to completion.
• Develop detailed designs, specifications, and drawings using CAD software.
• Oversee fabrication, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, performance analyses, and stress calculations.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and resources with internal teams and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during project execution.
• Collaborate with electrical, civil, and automation engineers for integrated solutions.
• Prepare technical reports and progress updates for stakeholders.
• Conduct site inspections and provide on-site support in the Upington region.
