Job summary

Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks an experienced Industrial Engineer focused on Operations Analysis. The role combines on-site data collection with remote analysis and reporting in a Hybrid work model.

You will analyze data, implement Lean and Six Sigma improvements, conduct time studies, plan capacity, and design workflow optimizations. You'll work with production, logistics, and management to drive efficiency, develop KPIs, and prepare SOPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial engineering or operations analysis, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab) and experience with simulation software is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction and productivity improvement.
• Develop and implement process improvements utilizing Lean and Six Sigma principles.
• Conduct time studies, workflow analyses, and capacity planning to optimize resource allocation.
• Design and recommend modifications to plant layouts, equipment, and workflows to enhance operational performance.
• Collaborate with production, logistics, and management teams to understand operational challenges and implement solutions.
• Develop and maintain performance metrics and reporting dashboards to track operational KPIs.
• Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
• Participate in projects related to new equipment implementation or process automation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all operational analyses.
• Present findings and recommendations to management, clearly articulating the business case for proposed changes.
