Job summary

Placements24 seeks a meticulous Exploration Geochemist to support a hybrid field-and-lab role near Port Elizabeth. You will design and implement geochemical programs, collect and analyze samples, and guide exploration targets with geochemical data interpretation.

The role emphasizes collaboration with geologists and geophysicists, plus QA/QC oversight of lab work. A Master’s degree and 6+ years in exploration geochemistry are required, with proficiency in ioGAS, GCDkit, and GIS.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geochemistry, Geology, or related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in applied exploration geochemistry.
• Proficiency with ioGAS, GCDkit and GIS software.
• Strong understanding of mineral deposit models and geochemical dispersion.
• Experience designing robust QA/QC programs for geochemical data.
• Excellent field, report writing, and detail-oriented skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and execute geochemical sampling programs (soil, rock, stream sediment, water).
• Collect field samples according to established protocols with proper labeling and chain of custody.
• Manage and interpret geochemical data, identifying anomalous concentration indicative of mineralization.
• Utilize statistical and geospatial analysis tools to model geochemical signatures and generate exploration targets.
• Collaborate with geologists and geophysicists to integrate geochemical data with other datasets.
• Oversee laboratory analysis, ensuring data quality and QA/QC adherence.
