Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geologist to join its exploration team in Port Elizabeth. You will analyze geological data, interpret seismic surveys, and contribute to subsurface mapping and 3D geological models.

Collaboration with geophysicists and reservoir engineers is essential to evaluate hydrocarbon prospects. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Geology, 3–5 years in upstream oil and gas, and proficiency with Petrel or Kingdom Suite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or a related earth science field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Geologist in the upstream oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency in geological interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze core samples, well logs, and other geological data to characterize subsurface formations.
• Interpret seismic data and create detailed geological maps and cross-sections.
• Contribute to the development of 3D geological models for prospect evaluation.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate geological interpretations.
• Assist in the planning and supervision of geological field operations.
• Prepare geological reports and presentations for management and technical teams.
