Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Event and Banqueting Manager in Benoni, Gauteng. You will plan, execute, and manage all venue events, coordinating catering, A/V, room setup, and staffing with a focus on client satisfaction and profitability.

The role requires strong project management, creativity, and excellent communication. It is a hybrid position with on-site event leadership and remote admin duties.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in event management, banqueting coordination, or a related role within the hospitality or venue sector.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and executing a variety of successful events.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities, with a client-focused approach.
• Proficiency in event planning software and MS Office Suite.
• A creative mindset with the ability to offer innovative event solutions.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required by event schedules.
• A qualification in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field is advantageous.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa and reside in or near Benoni, Gauteng .

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end planning and execution of all types of events, including corporate functions, weddings, conferences, and private parties.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing professional guidance and support throughout the event planning process.
• Develop detailed event proposals, menus, and timelines in collaboration with the catering team and clients.
• Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring adherence to venue standards and client specifications.
• Coordinate with internal departments (catering, A/V, operations, housekeeping) to ensure flawless execution of events.
• Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure profitability targets are met.
• Conduct site inspections and client meetings to showcase venue capabilities and discuss event requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations relevant to event operations.
• Manage staffing levels for events, including scheduling and coordinating with external agencies if necessary.
• Solicit client feedback post-event to identify areas for improvement and maintain client relationships.
