Placements24 in Paarl is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our sophisticated operations team on a hybrid schedule. You will design, implement, and maintain advanced process control strategies that optimize plant performance, enhance safety, and ensure stability in a chemical manufacturing context.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering and at least five years’ experience with DCS/PLC platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or Honeywell Experion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens).
• Strong understanding of process dynamics, control theory, and instrumentation.
• Experience with advanced process control (APC) techniques is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission distributed control systems (DCS) and PLC.
• Develop advanced process control (APC) strategies to improve efficiency, product quality, and energy consumption.
• Troubleshoot control system issues, diagnose faults, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control requirements and implement new control schemes.
• Develop and maintain control system documentation, including logic diagrams, P&IDs, and user manuals.
• Stay current with advancements in automation technology, sensors, and control algorithms.
