Job summary

Placements24 in East London is seeking a meticulous Construction Estimator to join our team serving the Eastern Cape. The role focuses on detailed cost analysis of plans and specifications to accurately price materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects. Hybrid position with site visits for scope clarification.

You will work closely with BD, suppliers, and subcontractors to prepare competitive bids and ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Proficient with estimating software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and tender documents to determine scope.
• Perform quantity take-offs for materials, labor and equipment.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Calculate costs for materials, labor, equipment and subs.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals and cost estimates.
• Assist in bid packages and tender submissions.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure realism.
• Maintain historical cost data to improve estimates.
• Identify risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions.
