Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking an Automation Electrical Engineer to design and implement automated systems across industrial processes. This hybrid role balances remote planning with on-site collaboration to deliver reliable control solutions.

You will develop electrical schematics, program PLCs and HMIs, troubleshoot systems, and support commissioning while coordinating with mechanical and production teams. A BEng/BSc and 5+ years in automation are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
Proficiency in PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text) and HMI development software.

Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical schematics for industrial automation systems, including PLC, HMI, and VFD integration.
Program and configure PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMIs to meet specific process requirements.
Implement and troubleshoot automated control systems, ensuring seamless operation and minimal downtime.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to integrate automation solutions into existing infrastructure.
Conduct site visits for installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of automation projects.
Maintain detailed documentation for all electrical and automation designs and programming.
