Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in Gauteng seeks an enthusiastic HVAC service trainee to support our service team on-site, assisting senior technicians during site visits and maintenance tasks.

You will learn to diagnose system issues, work with chillers and air handling equipment, and contribute to reliable performance while developing your technical skills through mentoring and hands-on field experience.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate required.
• Strong interest in mechanical HVAC systems and field service work.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Gauteng.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspections, service calls, and preventive maintenance.
• Support troubleshooting of HVAC equipment (chillers, pack units, splits).
• Assist installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems.
• Document service activities, findings, and parts usage.
• Follow safety, compliance, and quality guidelines.
• Communicate clearly with customers during site visits.

What You Will Do

You will support our HVAC Service Team in delivering maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for mechanical HVAC systems across customer sites in Gauteng. You will assist senior technicians during service visits, help diagnose system issues, and contribute to the reliable performance of Johnson Controls’ HVAC equipment.

How You Will Do It

• Work alongside senior HVAC technicians during inspections, service calls, and preventive maintenance
• Support troubleshooting of chillers, package units, split systems, pumps, and mechanical components
• Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC equipment and related systems
• Document service activities, findings, and parts usage according to Johnson Controls standards
• Follow all safety procedures, compliance requirements, and quality guidelines
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers during site visits
• Build your technical capability through structured training, mentoring, and hands‑on field experience
