Job summary

Johnson Controls in Cape Town seeks an HVAC service support technician to assist senior technicians with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical HVAC systems at customer sites. You will document activities and parts usage, maintain safety and quality standards, and communicate professionally during visits.

Strong interest in HVAC, a Matric certificate, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate (minimum) and interest in HVAC field.
• Ability to learn quickly and follow technical instructions.
• Willingness to travel within Cape Town and hold a valid driver's license.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience in HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

You will support our HVAC Service Team in delivering maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for mechanical HVAC systems across customer sites in Cape Town. You will assist senior technicians during service visits, help diagnose system issues, and contribute to the reliable performance of Johnson Controls’ HVAC equipment.

How You Will Do It

Work alongside senior HVAC technicians during inspections, service calls, and preventive maintenance

• Support troubleshooting of chillers, package units, split systems, pumps, and mechanical components
• Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC equipment and related systems
• Document service activities, findings, and parts usage according to Johnson Controls standards
• Follow all safety procedures, compliance requirements, and quality guidelines
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers during site visits
• Build your technical capability through structured training, mentoring, and hands‑on field experience
