Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a specialized HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join our facilities and engineering team in Pretoria. The role focuses on the design, installation, and maintenance of sophisticated heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial buildings, aiming for optimal performance and energy efficiency.

You will lead load calculations, equipment selection, and commissioning, while ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with HVAC specialization.
Minimum 4 years of experience specifically in HVAC system design and project management.
Proficiency with HVAC design software (HAP, Trace 700) and CAD tools; strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards.
Experience with building management systems (BMS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design and develop HVAC systems for new construction and retrofitting projects, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork design.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and project timelines.
Conduct energy audits and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and performance of existing HVAC systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC system issues, providing technical support and recommendations.
Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications related to HVAC systems.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to HVAC design and energy efficiency.
