The candidate should hold a National Diploma or Bachelor’s in OH&S or Environmental Science, with at least 4 years of HSE experience; CSP or equivalent certification is desirable. Strong communication and reporting skills are essential.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive HSE Officer to join their field operations team in Randburg . This crucial role ensures the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental protection across all operational sites within the oil and gas sector . You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring HSE policies, conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and promoting a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and contractors. Your expertise will directly contribute to operational integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors, promoting a safety-conscious culture.
  • Prepare and submit HSE reports to management and regulatory bodies.
  • Advise on HSE matters, risk assessments, and safe work permits.
  • Monitor environmental impact and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Requirements
  • National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an HSE professional, preferably within the oil and gas industry or heavy industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African HSE legislation and international best practices.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
