Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive HSE Supervisor to oversee Health, Safety and Environmental performance at a Bloemfontein site. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct inspections, manage incident investigations and promote a strong safety culture among all personnel in the Oil & Gas sector.

The role requires a National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, at least 5 years in an HSE supervisory role, and relevant certifications (SAMTRAC or NEBOSH).

Qualifications

  • Requires a National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an HSE supervisory role, preferably in Oil & Gas or heavy industry.
  • Certifications such as SAMTRAC or NEBOSH are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific HSE policies and programs.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses with detailed reports and corrective actions.
  • Deliver HSE training to employees and contractors to ensure awareness and competency.
  • Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Act as primary on-site contact for all HSE matters and liaise with regulators as required.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced HSE Supervisor to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental performance at their site in Bloemfontein. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment, and minimizing environmental impact. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct inspections, manage incident investigations, and foster a strong safety culture among all personnel. This position requires a dedicated individual committed to upholding the highest standards of HSE within the demanding Oil & Gas sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training to employees and contractors, ensuring awareness and competency.
  • Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all HSE matters on site and liaise with regulatory bodies as required.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and visible leadership.
Requirements
  • National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE supervisory role, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry or heavy industrial environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African HSE legislation and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
