Job summary

Copper Quail in Cape Town, South Africa, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to manage end-to-end talent processes, onboarding, and onboarding lifecycle. You will support HRIS maintenance, compliance, and reporting within a People & Culture team.

The role requires a 5+ year track record in HR, strong communication, and a high sense of ethics and confidentiality in dealings with staff and management.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a People/HR role, preferably in engineering/mining.
• South African citizenship or permanent residency, based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities

• Assist with end-to-end talent acquisition processes, including job postings and interview scheduling.
• Coordinate onboarding, including contracts, compliance, documentation, and inductions.
• Manage off-boarding, exit interviews, and asset collection.
• Maintain HRIS and ensure employee records compliance.
• Support Skills Development and Employment Equity reporting.

Assist with end-to-end talent acquisition, including job postings, interview scheduling, background checks, and applicant correspondenceCoordinate the full onboarding lifecycle, including contract administration, compliance verification, documentation, and inductionsManage off-boarding processes to ensure full compliance, including conducting exit interviews and asset collectionMaintain and update the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and manage employee record complianceSupport global mobility processes to ensure international placement and assignment compliance across relevant jurisdictionsCollaborate with the broader People & Culture team to deliver consistent, high-quality HR servicesCollate HR metrics, data, and statistics for management reporting and business development requirementsAssist with Skills Development and Employment Equity/Affirmative Action planning, implementation, and statutory reportingPerform general HR administration, filing, and ad hoc duties as required

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field from a recognized institution
• 5+ years of experience in a People/HR role, preferably within engineering, mining, or related industries
• South African Citizenship or Permanent Residency, based in Cape Town
• Proven proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and experience with HRIS platforms
• Strong understanding of South African labour compliance, Employment Equity, and Skills Development
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while meeting high quality standards
• High level of professional ethics, discretion, and strict confidentiality
