We are looking for a hands-on, organised and people-focused HR Officer to support the day-to-day HR function on site in Randburg.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the operational side of HR just as much as working with people. From keeping HR records and attendance systems running smoothly to supporting employee relations and ensuring HR processes are followed, you’ll play an important role in keeping the business running efficiently and creating a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- General HR Administration: Coordinate day-to-day HR activities, including recruitment support, onboarding, maintaining employee records and managing offboarding processes.
- Time & Attendance: Monitor and troubleshoot the clocking and attendance system, ensuring accurate information is available for payroll and reporting.
- Payroll Support: Prepare and verify HR-related payroll information, working closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Leave Administration: Maintain leave records, monitor leave balances and ensure leave policies are applied consistently.
- Employee Relations (IR): Assist with disciplinary processes, grievances and CCMA-related matters, ensuring procedures are followed and aligned with South African labour legislation.
- HR Systems & Processes: Maintain accurate HR data, identify opportunities to improve processes and help ensure HR systems operate effectively.
- Employee Support: Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR queries, providing practical guidance and escalating more complex matters when necessary.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build positive working relationships with employees, supervisors and management across all levels of the business, including the retail store environment.
- HR Policies & Compliance: Support the implementation and consistent application of HR policies, procedures and relevant labour legislation.
- Employee Experience: Contribute to a supportive, professional and engaging workplace by ensuring HR processes are efficient, fair and people-focused.
What We're Looking For
Someone who is proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable balancing HR administration with employee interaction. You should enjoy solving problems, working with HR systems and keeping processes on track, while knowing how to handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion.
Requirements
- At least 4 years' experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within the retail industry.
- Proven hands-on experience with clocking/time and attendance systems, payroll processes, leave management, and IR management.
- Tech-savvy with a genuine interest in working with HR systems - this role requires someone who enjoys the systems side of HR, not just tolerates it.
- Solid working knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA) and CCMA processes.
- Relevant HR qualification (Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or related field) advantageous.
