Job summary

Mycareercraft in Stellenbosch is seeking a hands-on HR Generalist with payroll experience to join our team. You will own end-to-end recruitment and payroll processes while ensuring compliance with BCEA, PAYE, UIF and COIDA, and maintain data integrity across ESS and pension admin.

You should bring 3–5 years in HR with payroll accountability, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with SAGE 300 or Pastel Evolution; hospitality background is a plus.

Qualifications

• A warm, patient, people-first personality — this role is as much about relationships as it is about numbers
• A relevant HR, Industrial Psychology or Business Management qualification
• Payroll qualification and/or solid payroll experience
• 3–5 years in a generalist HR role with payroll accountability
• Working knowledge of BCEA, PAYE, UIF and COIDA
• Strong Excel; SAGE 300/Pastel Evolution and ESS experience is a bonus
• Hospitality or service-industry background is a plus
• SDF certification is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Running the fortnightly and monthly payroll cycle — overtime, tips, commission, leave, deductions, new starters, promotions and exits
• Keeping reconciliations, control accounts, salary journals and reporting airtight
• Handling statutory submissions: SARS, UIF and COIDA
• Owning recruitment and onboarding end to end — adverts, shortlisting, interviews, references, offers
• Supporting managers through employee relations, discipline, performance management and probation
• Maintaining accurate records, ESS and pension fund admin, with strong data integrity
• Driving performance management, training, wellness and engagement initiatives
• Compiling HR and payroll reports and supporting audits and HR projects
