Job summary

Fairmont in Cape Town is seeking a House Attendant to ensure linen exchange, timely guest requests and immaculate corridors in line with our Core standards.

You will stock pantries with clean linen, assist the linen room, and report hazards or equipment issues. Prior hotel housekeeping and customer service experience at a 5-star property is preferred; fluent English is essential, and you thrive under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest levels of guest service through Fairmont standards and SOPs.
• Regularly empty soiled linen from pantry and return to linen room.
• Stock pantries with clean linen according to par-stock.
• Assist the linen room with daily tasks as required.
• Report Lost and Found items immediately across all areas.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to Floor Supervisor or Housekeeping Management.
• Sign for assigned keys, pagers and work papers and return by end of shift.
• Ensure equipment including vacuums is cleaned and stored properly.
• Vacuum and dust corridors and staircases as assigned.
• Deliver guest supplies to pantries and replenish service areas daily.
• Note and fulfill guest requests received via HSK Supervisors/Management.
• Move furniture as needed and replenish daily chemicals.
• Clean walls, lights, windows and window frames in arrival and long-stay rooms.
• Assist with removal of guestroom drapery for cleaning.
• Conduct deep cleaning tasks as assigned (spot cleaning, descale shower heads).
• Keep housekeeping office, pantries and storerooms clean and tidy.
• Report any Health & Safety hazards.
• Assist in on-the-job training of new House Attendants.
• Attend trainings by Housekeeping and Human Resources.
• Comply with reasonable requests from Supervisor and Hotel Management.

Scope of position:

Under the general direction of the Housekeeping Management, ensure all linen is exchanged and delivered according to standards, all corridors are vacuumed, and every guest request is completed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the highest levels of guest service through the application of Fairmont Core standards and standard operating policies.
• To make sure all soiled linen is regularly emptied from the pantry and returned to the linen room.
• To stock up all pantries with clean linen according to par-stock
• To assist the linen room as required with daily tasks.
• To report immediately any Lost and Found article(s) whether found in room, corridors, service lift landing, public areas, or basement.
• To report any equipment which is malfunctioning to the Floor Supervisor or Housekeeping Management.
• To be responsible to sign for assigned key, pager, work paper and return by end of shift.
• To ensure that all equipment including vacuums, used for the day are cleaned and stored in the storeroom.
• To vacuum and dust all corridors and staircases as assigned by section.
• To bring any guest supplies daily to pantries according to daily order list and replenish service areas.
• To note all Guest requests received via HSK Supervisors/Management and carry out exactly all requests.
• To move furniture from time to time.
• To refill daily chemicals.
• To clean all walls lights/ceiling lights as required
• To do brasso and clean windows with window frames in all arrival and long stay guest rooms.
• To assist with the removal of guestroom drapery for cleaning
• To conduct deep cleaning tasks as assigned (e.g., Spot carpet cleaning, shower head de-scaling, etc).
• To keep Housekeeping Office, floor pantries & storerooms clean & tidy always.
• To report anything which could be classed as a Health & Safety hazard.
• Assist in on job training of new House Attendants as and when required.
• To attend training courses given by Housekeeping and Human Resources
• To comply with any reasonable request by the Supervisor and Hotel Management.
