Key responsibilities
Strategic procurement management
- Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with business goals.
- Oversee all purchasing, including operational, Capex, and project-related needs.
- Establish and enforce procurement policies while ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and corporate standards.
- Continuously assess trends to optimize practices, reduce costs, and maintain the best quality at the best price.
Vendor & supplier management
- Source, qualify, and build strong supplier relationships.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and SLAs while conducting supplier evaluations.
- Manage supplier audits and approvals, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Organize annual supplier meetings to identify value-added partnerships.
Operational efficiency
- Coordinate daily procurement across all departments (F&B, Engineering, Housekeeping, Front Office, Administration).
- Monitor stock levels, turnover, and waste reduction.
- Approve purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve discrepancies.
Financial control & reporting
- Collaborate with finance to manage budgets and forecast procurement needs.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and prepare performance reports.
- Implement strategies to improve quality and cost efficiency.
Compliance & risk management
- Ensure adherence to South African regulations and internal controls.
- Promote ethical sourcing, sustainability, and local supplier engagement.
- Mitigate procurement-related risks.
Team leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the procurement team for excellence.
- Foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Refine SOPs related to purchasing and stock control.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement management (hospitality industry advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of supply chain, vendor management, and procurement regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Financial acumen with proven cost-saving achievements.
