Job summary

Status Staffing in South Africa is seeking an experienced Training & Development specialist to elevate hospitality staff through in-store and classroom training and ongoing development initiatives.

The role includes creating and delivering induction programmes, annual training plans, and sponsor-funded training, plus coordinating franchisee training packs and SOPs. Standard hours are Mon-Fri 08:00–17:00; permanent role based in the Wes-Kaap region.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years’ experience in a Training and Development (L&D) role.
• Experience within hotels, lodges, restaurants, casinos, resorts, or luxury hospitality.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing training programmes for operational hospitality staff.
• Experience conducting induction, onboarding, and refresher training.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a variety of training programmes and classes.
• Facilitate both practical, in-store training and theoretical, classroom-based training.
• Develop and write course materials and training content.
• Develop and maintain the annual training planner.
• Plan and schedule internal and external training programmes throughout the year.
• Coordinate sponsored training initiatives.
• Accurately track all training completed across the Group by employee to support effective reporting.
• Develop and maintain franchisee training planners and brand training packs, including SOPs, systems, and procedures.
• Deliver brand-specific staff training for new store openings.
• Provide management training on company systems and procedures, including Kissflow, Magicbox, Micros, and the e-learning platform.
• Deliver full-team training on audit procedures and systems.
• Coordinate support facilitators for in-store training, including bar and coffee training.
• Provide overall operational training support during opening week.
• Conduct monthly induction programmes for new employees, including an overview of the company.
• Provide systems and procedures training for newly appointed managers.
• Present the company organisational structure and reporting lines.
• Communicate career development and growth opportunities within the Group.
• Track and monitor WSP targets throughout the year.
• Ensure the annual WSP submission is completed by the end of April.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records to support WSP compliance and reporting.
• Manage and regularly update the annual external training sponsorship budget, including DEG funding.
• Ensure compliance with all sponsorship contract requirements and agreed deliverables.
• Evaluate and compile reports on the effectiveness and outcomes of sponsored training.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting to sponsors in line with contractual obligations.
• Maximize available external training funding opportunities.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to meet operational needs and as directed by Management.
