Hospitality Finance Accountant: Ledger, VAT & Reporting

Lanzerac seeks an experienced Accountant to join our hospitality team in South Africa. The role covers day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, and producing accurate financial records while supporting management with timely financial information.

The ideal candidate has at least two years in accounting/finance, proficiency in Excel, and experience with Sage, Xero, Pastel or similar software, plus a keen eye for detail and strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping or a related field.
• At least two years' experience in an accounting/bookkeeping or finance environment.
• Previous experience in hospitality or hotel industry advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Pastel or similar.
• Experience with hotel PMS and POS systems advantageous.
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and process invoices, payments, receipts and journals.
• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate allocation of transactions.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
• Monitor outstanding customer accounts and supplier balances.
• Daily reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, cash, debtors and creditors.
• Monitor daily cash-ups and investigate variances or discrepancies.
• Prepare and assist VAT returns and other applicable statutory submissions.
• Prepare debtor and creditor ageing reports / follow up on outstanding balances.
• Perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
• Investigate and resolve accounting queries.
• Prepare schedules, working papers and supporting documentation for audits.
• Maintain accurate, complete and well-organised financial records.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and applicable accounting and tax requirements.
• Provide accurate financial information and support to management.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and company information.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform other finance-related duties as reasonably required by management.
