Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our mining contractor client in Klerksdorp, North West. Lead a team of mechanics to keep a large fleet of heavy mobile equipment available, safe, and cost-efficient.

Implement preventative maintenance and troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime. The role requires a trade qualification or diploma, 5+ years in supervision, CMMS experience, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Trade Qualification (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician) or a National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role managing maintenance of heavy mobile equipment in mining/construction.
• Proven expertise diagnosing and repairing major components of mining machinery (engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems).
• Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Experience with CMMS for maintenance planning and tracking.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to North West mining operations.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage day-to-day maintenance team activities, including scheduling and performance management.
• Develop, implement, and monitor preventative and predictive maintenance programs for heavy mobile equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on mining machinery.
• Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Manage spare parts inventory, workshop tools, and equipment for availability and cost control.
• Conduct regular equipment and workshop inspections to identify issues and improvements.
