Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance on construction sites in Klerksdorp and surrounding areas. You will develop, implement and monitor safety programs to safeguard workers and visitors, fostering a safe working environment that supports operational excellence.

The role requires SA qualifications (SAMTRAC/NOSA Diploma), 5+ years in construction safety, and in-depth knowledge of the SA OHS Act.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain site Health and Safety Management System.

• Ensure adherence to safety policies for employees and visitors.

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with all safety regulations on their construction sites in Klerksdorp and surrounding areas. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to prevent accidents and injuries. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel and visitors, contributing to the company's commitment to operational excellence and worker well-being in the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific Health and Safety Management System .
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate accidents and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel and subcontractors.
• Ensure all employees and visitors adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incident reports.
• Advise management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NOSA Diploma).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer , preferable in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and construction regulations.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification techniques.
• Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
