About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of safety across various construction sites in Bloemfontein and surrounding areas. This role is fundamental to protecting the well-being of all personnel on site and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols, conducting inspections, and providing training to foster a robust safety culture. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive health and safety plans for all construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing preventative measures.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel, ensuring awareness and compliance.
• Maintain all safety documentation, records, and certifications, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and management on all health and safety matters.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization and on all construction sites .

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry .
• Thorough knowledge of South African OHS Act and other relevant legislation.
• Excellent inspection, auditing, and reporting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and train others effectively.
• First Aid certification is an advantage.
