Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Construction Safety Officer to uphold health and safety standards across projects in the Polokwane area. You will implement safety policies, conduct inspections, deliver training, and promote a safety-first culture on site.

The ideal candidate holds NEBOSH or SAMTRAC, has at least four years of construction safety experience, understands the SA OHS Act, and possesses strong communication and reporting skills. First aid certification is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH or SAMTRAC or equivalent OHS qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Safety Officer in construction.
• Thorough knowledge of South African OHS Act and construction regulations.
• Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites.
• First Aid certification and relevant safety qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive health and safety plans for construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, determining root causes and corrective actions.
