Job description

We are seeking a seasoned commercial leader to drive the power and commercial strategy for our pioneering hydrogen and e-Fuel businesses. This senior role is responsible for securing, structuring, and managing power arrangements that enable competitive, reliable, and bankable operations across our renewable energy portfolio.
As Head of Power & Commercial Strategy, you will:

• Own the commercial strategy for power sourcing, sales, and risk management.
• Lead negotiations with IPPs, utilities, traders, and regulators.
• Ensure technical assets are commercially viable and investment ready.
• Build and lead a high-performing commercial power team.

Experience & Profile

• Extensive experience in power markets, energy trading, renewable-energy transactions, or energy infrastructure commercial management.
• Proven success in originating, structuring, and closing complex power agreements.
• Strong understanding of South African electricity-market structures, tariff design, wheeling, and regulatory frameworks; international exposure advantageous.
• Deep commercial judgment in pricing, risk allocation, credit, counterparty management, financial modeling, and negotiation.
• Experience supporting project finance through robust, bankable revenue and supply arrangements.
• Ability to credibly engage with technical teams without owning detailed design.
• Established industry network is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Energy, Law, or related commercial discipline.
• MBA or advanced finance/energy-economics qualification advantageous.
• Professional training in energy trading, risk, finance, or commercial contracting preferred.
• Engineering qualification welcome but not required.
