Job summary

Communicate Finance in South Africa seeks a senior professional to develop and execute the power-market strategy and manage complex energy transactions. You will negotiate PPAs, wheeling and grid-access, while building robust commercial models and board-ready investment cases.

Lead a team, manage relationships with IPPs, utilities and traders, and monitor regulatory developments to keep pricing and risk aligned with market change.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in power markets, energy trading, renewable energy or energy infrastructure.
• Proven track record in negotiating and closing complex energy transactions.
• Strong understanding of the South African electricity market, wheeling and regulatory environment.
• Strong commercial, financial modelling, negotiation and risk-management skills.
• Experience working with project finance and senior stakeholders.
• Minimum 8 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the power-market and commercial strategy.
• Lead the sourcing, structuring and negotiation of PPAs, wheeling, grid-access and power-sale agreements.
• Manage commercial relationships with IPPs, utilities, traders, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
• Develop pricing, risk, credit and hedging strategies.
• Build commercial models, investment cases and board-level recommendations.
• Ensure agreements are commercially robust and bankable.
• Monitor South African electricity-market, tariff and regulatory developments.
• Lead and develop the commercial power team.
